Fundraising is a vital part of the band experience. Fundraisers help pay for costs not covered by the general fund provided by the school system such as: uniform costs and care, participation in competitions, instrument maintenance, student awards, band trailers and associated registrations/insurance costs, hardship scholarships, and more (refer to: Band Booster Budget for a complete listing).
There are several types of fundraising activities which can be found on the Booster Calendar.
Events: these are hosted by the band boosters and include community-wide events such as Dan's Fish Fry, Car Washes, and the Jazz Café. Successful execution of many of the events requires parent volunteers.
Sales: product sales such as pie/pizza/cheese & sausage, spirit wear sales (clothing, stickers), and "passive" fundraising sales such as "Scrip" cards (see the shopwithscrip.com link on the home page). These occur throughout the year and may include a percentage earned being deposited into a student's account which can be used to pay marching band/percussion/guard/uniform fees.
"Rent a Booster Parent and/or Student" activities: these include selling concessions for the Pendleton Jr. Baseball League during spring/summer season, parking cars at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and picking up trash at Pendleton's Heritage Fair. These activities do not involve planning, but often require 4-5 hours of a booster/student's time. Participation in these activities include the extra incentive of being able to earn money that can be deposited into a student's account.
The Band is the largest single student participation group at Pendleton Heights High School. The Booster organization is always looking for business partners to donate items (water, food, paper products), and corporate sponsors to finance our budget (refer to: Sponsorships for more information).
